- Read the Bible or listen to a tape or cassette recording of it for six consecutive days. Educational research has shown that it is necessary to read or hear a concept six to ten times in order to understand it thoroughly (INTERNALIZE). As you apply the principles presented in this concept, the joy of experiencing the cleansed life will become a way of life for you. A thorough understanding of this concept will enable you to communicate it more effectively to others.
- Memorize the following verses and references; John 10:10b ‘I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly’; 1John 1:9 ‘If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’
- Study the taught questions. Before you answer any questions you must understand the question first.
- Participate in a group discussion, using the taught questions. If you are not already a part of a Bible study, or action group, which is studying the transferable concepts, you can form your own group by inviting others to join you in this study program. As you discuss the thought questions, share what God is teaching you about his love and forgiveness and share ideas regarding how you plan to apply this teaching in your life and how you plan to share it with others.
- Finally, make this concept ‘How to experience God’s love and forgiveness’, a way of life through practicing the following
- Set aside 20 to 30 minutes to be alone with God. Prayerfully ask Him to reveal to you any sinful attitude or actions of your life that are displeasing to Him and make a written list of them. Confess these sins (agree with God concerning them), according to His promise in 1John 1:9 across the list, write out the verse; Thank Him according to His promise. Then destroy the list.
- Ask God daily to make you sensitive to anything in your life which would be displeasing to Him. Then, throughout the day, as you become aware of such an area, immediately pray and claim God’s forgiveness, according to His promise.
- Use the brief outline in the front of the paper, the amplified outline in the other papers on a tape recording of the concept, to share this vital truth with other people, share it as often as you can throughout the week. Provide a booklet, and perhaps a tape or cassette, for those with whom you share the concept, so that they too can study this material in depth and pass it on to others.
Your memory work will be easier and more lasting if you will review it daily for the entire week rather than try to complete all of it in just one day. Also, review the verses memorized with previous concepts.
AMPLIFIED OUTLINE
- Knowing Jesus Christ personally is the greatest adventure man can experience.
- Jesus of Nazareth is the most remarkable, powerful, attractive personality of all the centuries (Isaiah 7:14; 53:4-6)
- Jesus meant for the Christian life to be an exciting, abundant adventure (John 10:10; Galatians 5:22-23)
- Unfortunately, most Christians are not experiencing a life of joy and victory as taught in the Bible by the Apostle Paul and our Lord (Romans 5:3; 1Thessalonians 5:18; John 15:8)
- The average Christian is not fruitful.
- There is a vast difference between the Christianity of the New Testament and the Christianity evidenced in the lives of many Christians today.
- The first century church made a mighty impact for God upon the world (Acts 17:6)(BUT WHEN THEY DID NOT FIND THEM, THEY DRAGGED JASON AND SOME OTHER BROTHERS BEFORE THE CITY OFFICIALS SHOUTING: “THESE MEN WHO HAVE CAUSED TROUBLE ALL OVER THE WOULD” HAVE NOW COME HERE)
- They knew the reality of being filled with the Spirit.
- They had met God’s requirements of super-natural cleansing of their sins (Psalms 51:2, 3, 10, 12, and 13).
- Today we are greatly challenged as we face the most desperate hour of all human history.
- The entire world is filled with anxiety, fear and frustration.
- Never before in the recorded history has there been such an ideal opportunity for presenting the claims of Christ.
- In the midst of these tremendous problems and opportunities, most Christians have become more a part of the problem than a part of the solution.
- They do not evidence a quality of life, which causes others to want to know our Lord.
- They do not know how to appropriate God’s power and resources for making an impact on the world.
- The fact that many Christians are part of the problem rather than part of the solution can best be understood if we realize that there are three kinds of people in the world (1Corinthians 2:14; 3:3) Natural man Spiritual man Carnal man
- There is the natural man who is not a Christian
- He depends solely upon his own resources.
- Spiritually, he is dead to God – dead in trespasses and sins
- There is the Spiritual man, who is a Christian and who is controlled and empowered by the Holy Spirit of God.
- He draws continually upon the unlimited resources of God’s love and power.
- Spiritually, he is alive to God, for the Son of God is living in and through Him.
- He brings glory to God because of his fruitful life.
- There is the Carnal man, who, though Christian; he is trying to live in his own strength (1 Corinthians 3).
- He is a defeated and fruitless Christian
- He never allows the Holy Spirit to mould him into the kind of person God created him to be.
- He lives in endless frustration
- Sadly, he is often a person who does not realize that he is in the carnal category (Romans 7:14-19)
- He lives in slavery to sin (Romans 7:20-25)
- God has provided the solution for the carnal Christian through the power of the Holy Spirit, who is able to liberate him from the vicious power of sin and death (Romans 7:25; 8:3).
- Self-imposed religious disciplines lead only to defeat and frustration.
- By faith, we can experience Christ’s resurrection power and life in and through us (Colossians 3:10, 1Peter 1:7, Hebrews 11:6)
- Faith is another word for trust, but trust must have an object.
- The object of the Christian’s faith is God and His word (John 14:14)
- It is tragic that the average Christian is a practical atheist, professing to believe in God yet acting as though God either does not exist or is unwilling to help him.
